The Fall 2023 Undergraduate Research Fair was hosted by the Undergraduate Research Ambassadors (URA) on November 27 in the Midtown Ballroom of the Exhibition Hall. This year's event was attended by 16 campus research labs and 115 undergraduate students, who took the opportunity to learn about the research being conducted by their Georgia Tech peers via oral and poster presentations.
URA is a mentoring program that uses peer undergraduate researchers to help other undergraduates navigate the research process, whether that may be helping someone find a lab position or applying to scholarships like the President's Undergraduate Research Award (PURA). As part of URA, undergraduate research students are empowered to develop their own undergraduate research programming to facilitate this mentoring
In addition to the research presentations, the event also included one-on-one consultations with the Research Ambassadors, as well as opportunities to learn more about opportunities for research in Spring 2024. The research fair, which is an event held annually by the Undergraduate Opportunities Research Program (UROP), a unit within the Office of Experiential and Engaged Learning (E2L) in OUE, was the fifth and final event organized and hosted by URA to promote undergraduate research at Georgia Tech.
Opportunities such as the Undergraduate Research Fair are one of the many ways Georgia Tech provides opportunities for undergraduate students to develop skills that will empower them to better the world and themselves through discovery and innovation. By engaging in activities such as the Undergraduate Research Fair, Georgia Tech students actively contribute to the field of scientific discovery while deepening their own understanding in and outside of the classroom.
