Gary Thomas
Gary is an Industrial and Systems Engineering major who served as a student assistant mentor in Tutoring and Academic Support in Academic Success and Advising (ASA). Gary’s favorite part of working for OUE was implementing the House Points System. After graduation, Gary is moving to New York to work at American Express as an Associate Digital Product Manager.

Alexandra Newberg
Alexandra Newberg is a biology major who served as a Team Leader (TL) for the GT 1000/2000 program in Experiential and Engaged Learning (E2L). Being a TL has been one of Alexandra’s favorite experiences here at Georgia Tech. After graduation, Alexandra will be starting full-time as an Environmental Science Analyst as Kimley-Horn.
“Being a GT1000/2000 Team Leader has been one of my favorite experiences at Tech. I have loved being able to watch freshmen and transfer students come out of their shell and establish themselves at Tech throughout the semester. It has been such a cool experience to be a part of that journey for the students!”
Valeria Palacios
Valeria Palacios is a computer science major who served as a student assistant in the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education. Valeria’s favorite project that she worked on with OUE was helping to make the guest reception process more efficient. After graduation, Valeria will be Software Engineer for Microsoft

Yongnuo Yang
Yongnuo Yang is an computer engineering major who served as a tutor in Tutoring and Academic Support in Academic Success and Advising (ASA). Yongnuo’s favorite project that he worked on while at Georgia Tech was his ECE Capstone Project. After graduation, Yongnuo will begin a MS in ECE at Georgia Tech.
"In designing my ECE Capstone Project, I envisioned a product that would revolutionize urban mobility by tackling the persistent challenge of parking space scarcity. Our automated IoT solution, is a blend of BLE-beacon-based local sensing, algorithm-based routing, and real-time wireless communication, making parking efficient and user-friendly. We incorporated miniaturized, energy-efficient hardware and cloud-based computation, making our solution scalable and ideal for future smart cities.”
Samantha Mutiti
Samantha Mutiti is a Biomedical Engineering major who worked with the Honors Program as the Director of Internal Affairs for the Honors Program Leadership Council. Samantha’s favorite project with OUE was the annual Honors Program student retreat. After graduation, Sam plans to go to graduate school and pursue a Ph.D. in bioengineering.
“I have loved working on the annual retreat where we are able to welcome in the new HP students. It was my first memory of Georgia Tech so I appreciate the opportunity to try and make it as memorable for each new class. I have been able to contribute support and adaptability to unexpected changes or problems.”
Shea Rathbun
Shea Rathbun is a civil engineering major who worked in TAS in Academic Success and Advising as a Student Assistant Mentor. After graduation, Shea will be attending the University of Cambridge to get a master's degree in Public Policy before returning to PwC to pursue technology consulting.
Ishika Samantarai
Ishika Samantarai is a neuroscience major and Pre-Health Peer Advisor. Ishika’s favorite part of working with OUE is interacting with students during the annual Pre-Health Fall Kickoff. After graduation, Ishika plans to take a gap year before medical school, working as a Medical Scribe and volunteering at non-profits.
I loved getting to talk to students during our Pre-Health Fall Kickoff! It’s always so nice seeing so many students with the same passion in one space, conversations flow so easily and I love being able to help new students out!
Celina Wu
Celina Wu is a Biomedical Engineering major and a Pre-Health Peer Advisior. Celina’s favorite project with OUE was helping to plan and host the Fall Pre-Health Kickoff. After graduating, Celina plans to start a US MD program in Summer 2024.
"I absolutely loved planning and hosting the fall pre-health kickoff in August! I got to meet and speak with so many pre-health students, learn about their experiences, and answer questions about what it means to me to be a pre-health student at Tech. My favorite part about pre-health advising is the supportive community we have and I'm just happy to be a part of it in a meaningful way!"
