
We are pleased to announce that Robert Hampson has been promoted to Director of Business Operations in the Office of Undergraduate Education and Student Success (OUESS).
Robert has been an invaluable member of OUESS since he joined as the Assistant Director of Business Operations in 2024. During his tenure, he has been instrumental in building and enhancing our infrastructure and operational systems. His leadership has created a positive and supportive environment in HR, administration, finance, and staff engagement, ensuring that our students and staff consistently receive excellent support.
In his role as Assistant Director, Robert has provided the strategic vision needed to expand and implement robust centralized administrative and operational functions. He has developed a productive and positive administrative and operations team, elevated OUESS operational communication standards, and reimagined onboarding processes for new staff and faculty. His contributions have been pivotal in creating a more efficient and cohesive work environment.
As the new Director of Business Operations, Robert will continue to lead strategic initiatives that support the success of OUESS employees and units. He will collaborate closely with finance partners to provide transparent and timely budget support and will drive efforts to ensure timely talent acquisition that aligns with unit-level goals. With his extensive knowledge of Georgia Tech and USG systems and policies, and solid expertise in administration, business operations, and finance, Robert is well-equipped to develop and execute initiatives that will help achieve OUESS strategic objectives.
Robert's journey at Georgia Tech began in 2017, and since then, he has held several key positions, including Assistant Director of Financial Operations, Administrative Manager II, and Student Support Coordinator II. Before joining Georgia Tech, Robert gained valuable experience in banking as a financial analyst and relationship manager, and in higher education admissions as an executive admissions officer, director of admissions and enrollment, and associate director of admissions.
His dedication to the Institute is evident through his service on the Staff Council (2023-2025), his involvement with the Georgia Tech Alumni Association, his membership in the Event Coordinator Network (2018-2025), and his role as Co-Director of the IAC Student Ambassador Program (2017-2019). Robert has also contributed to numerous strategic planning committees and has chaired countless search committees.
Robert holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Everest University. His achievements have been recognized through various awards, including Culture Champion (2021, 2024), Spirit of Georgia Tech Award (2022), Faces of Inclusive Excellence (2020), Buzz Award (2019), and Level Up Series I & II (2019).
