
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Amy D'Unger has been appointed Faculty Director of the Georgia Tech Honors Program.
Amy holds a PhD in Sociology from Duke University and earned a B.A. in Sociology and a B.A. in English from the College of William and Mary. She joined OUE in February 2022 as Associate Director of the Honors Program and she has served most recently as Interim Director of the Honors Program. Before joining OUE, Amy served as Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies in Georgia Tech’s School of History and Sociology.
Amy has earned multiple awards for excellence in teaching and in advising at Georgia Tech, including the Eichholz Award, CIOS Award, and Teacher of the Year Award in the Ivan Allen College. She was recently promoted in rank to Principal Academic Professional. Her areas of professional interest include curriculum development and educational policy, undergraduate program management, teaching and pedagogical development, and academic advising. She currently serves as President of the Georgia Collegiate Honors Council and Treasurer of the Southern Regional Honors Council.
As Faculty Director of the Honors Program, her responsibilities will include leading the operations of the Honors Program, serving on the OUE Leadership Team, and supporting the Executive Director of the Honors Program and the Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education in advancing the mission of OUE and the Institute Strategic Plan. This will include transforming the Honors Program to align with Georgia Tech’s new Quality Enhancement Plan, Leaders in Progress and Service, beginning in 2026. In addition, she will arrange with Georgia Tech faculty and academic leadership for the provision of a slate of Honors Program classes and teach two Honors Program Core IMPACTS classes in her field of expertise each year. Amy will represent the Executive Director of the Honors Program in meetings and collaborative efforts with partners and stakeholders and she will supervise the Honors Program professional staff.
