The Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) announced that effective immediately, Dr. Christopher Reaves, Executive Director of High-Impact Learning Initiatives, will assume an additional leadership appointment as Assistant Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (AVPUE). This appointment formalizes many of the leadership responsibilities that Chris has been performing over the past 1.5 years during OUE's organizational transition.

I am very pleased to appoint Chris to this new leadership role in the Office of Undergraduate Education," said vice provost for Undergraduate Education, Steven Girardot. "He has a strong track record of implementing successful programs (including receiving two Emmy awards for the InVenture Prize) and leading high-performing teams. I am confident that he will continue to provide strong leadership as we work collaboratively to advance our strategic goals around transforming teaching and learning.

In this role, Chris will continue to provide leadership for his portfolio of High-Impact Practices and experiential education. He oversees undergraduate research, student innovation, learning communities, and GT 1000 & 2000. In partnership with the Career Center, he now jointly oversees the undergraduate co-op and internship programs and is charged with collaborating closely with other colleges, units, and campus partners involved in high-impact practices.

In his expanded capacity as Assistant Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, Chris will take on additional leadership responsibilities on behalf of the VPUE and in support of the Office of Undergraduate Education. He is charged with leading OUE's external outreach efforts and work closely with the OUE Student Advisory Board. He will take an active leadership role in the Transformative Teaching and Learning (TTL) ISP initiative, particularly around experiential learning and High-Impact practices for undergraduate students. Finally, he will work closely with the VPUE on a broad range of initiatives as they work to advance OUE's organizational transformation.

Chris has over 11 years of leadership experience in undergraduate academic affairs at Georgia Tech. He joined the Office of the Provost in 2011 first as Director of Undergraduate Research and Student Innovation and has steadily progressed in broader leadership roles. Before joining Georgia Tech, he was the Director of the Office of Undergraduate Research at the University of Alabama at Birmingham for over 4 years.

Chris earned his Ph.D. in Urban and Public Affairs at the University of Louisville and both a Master of Public Administration (MPA) and Bachelor of Science in Education from Jacksonville State University.
