Assistant Vice Provost / Executive Director, Office of Experiential & Engaged Learning

Dr. Chris Reaves has over 13 years of leadership experience in undergraduate academic affairs at Georgia Tech. He joined the Office of the Provost in 2011 first as Director of Undergraduate Research and Student Innovation and has steadily progressed in broader leadership roles since OUE was established in 2012. Before joining Georgia Tech, he was the founding Director of the Office of Undergraduate Research at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. 

As Executive Director of the Office of Experiential and Engaged Learning (E2L), Chris provides leadership for undergraduate high-impact practices and experiential education. He directly oversees undergraduate research, student innovation programs, learning communities, community-based learning, undergraduate transition seminars (GT1000/2000), and Ignite. In partnership with the Career Center, he also jointly oversees the undergraduate co-op and internship programs. He is charged with collaborating closely with other colleges, units, and programs across campus that are involved in high-impact practices. 

In his capacity as Assistant Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, Chris assumes additional leadership responsibilities on behalf of the VPUE and in support of the Office of Undergraduate Education. He is charged with leading OUE’s external outreach efforts with campus partners, including areas such as Undergraduate Admission, Student Life, FASET, OMED, Library/Clough Commons, and OIE. This includes overseeing undergraduate outreach council of campus stakeholders involved in undergraduate education and working closely with the OUE Student Advisory Board. He also takes a leadership role in the Transformative Teaching and Learning (TTL) ISP initiative and the USG HIPs Initiative. 

Dr. Reaves earned his Ph.D. in Urban and Public Affairs at the University of Louisville and both a Master of Public Administration (MPA) and Bachelor of Science in Education from Jacksonville State University.
