Academic Coordinator I
Undergraduate Academic Advising
Crystal earned her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with a Concentration in Management from Southern Polytechnic State University (post consolidation known as Kennesaw State). Crystal has been working in higher education for 4 and a half years across different departments at Georgia State University. Recently while at State; she worked in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions as an Enrollment Services Assistant assuring students exceptional customer service and rapid decisions to ensure their success at the institution. While she was able to adapt to the office’s ever changing environment, she decided it was time for a transition of her own. As a new edition to Georgia Tech; she plans to use all that she has learned and creative skills to ensure the success of the students and the advisors of the OUE.
Aside from her university duties, Crystal enjoys volunteering, reading, enjoying different genres of music and is excited to begin her first year as a professional dancer performing with the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream Shooting Stars dance team.
Community Engagement Specialist
Center for Serve-Learn-Sustain
Catherine was born and raised in Brunswick, Georgia, but moved to Atlanta for college. During her freshman year she decided to participate in the AmeriCorps Jumpstart program as a Corps member providing additional adult support and promoting children’s language and literacy skills with local Atlanta preschoolers. This volunteer experience sparked her initial interest in better understanding how universities connect and engage with local community members as well as what role university faculty, students, and staff can play in shaping the quality of life of local, regional, national, and global communities.
In 2014, Catherine left Atlanta and moved to New York City to pursue her graduate degree at Columbia University. However, it wasn’t long before she found her way back to Georgia through the University of Georgia Archway Partnership and in January 2016, she assumed the role of Archway Professional. In this position, she served as a liaison between rural South Georgia communities and UGA. She assisted those communities in connecting to higher education resources to aid them with locally identified issues, needs, and priorities. Now, she is excited to return to Atlanta as SLS’s new community engagement specialist to continue connecting student and faculty with the Atlanta community.
