Casey Chaviano, Ph.D., MSW
Dr. Casey Chaviano is the Assessment Specialist for the Office of Undergraduate Education. Dr. Chaviano attended Florida State University, where she earned a B.S. in Geography, Masters of Social Work, and Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy. Prior to coming to Georgia Tech, she worked in the mental health field as a Marriage and Family Therapist. Dr. Chaviano also has extensive graduate training in quantitative and qualitative research methods, statistical analyses, grant writing, IRB proposal development, and program evaluation.
Mr. Griffin transferred to Georgia Tech in August 2019 after 23 years as a mathematics professor and administrator at Georgia Highlands College. He is a proven academic leader with diverse experience related to student retention, student success initiatives, curriculum design, course scheduling and academic advising. For 12 years he served as the mathematics representative to University System of Georgia Council on General Education. Mr. Griffin earned a M.S. in Applied Mathematics from Georgia Tech and B.A. in Mathematics from Huntingdon College (AL). He is currently pursuing a second master’s degree in analytics through Georgia Tech’s online analytics program. His interests include international travel, college football (Go Jackets!) and classic cinema.
Communications Program Manager
Cory Hopkins holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from the University of West Georgia. Over the past several years Cory has honed his talent for graphics, video editing, print work, communicating, and marketing. As part of the Office of Undergraduate Education, Cory supports all of the OUE units under the supervision of the Associate Vice Provost. Although he has worked in communications and marketing for several years, this is his first position in higher education. Cory enjoys spending his free time with his family. He also loves to play music, soccer, video games, and binge-watching television shows. He likes meeting new people, so feel free to stop by and introduce yourself!
Assistant to the VP & AVP
Wanda Purinton is the Assistant to the Vice Provost & Assistant Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education. Wanda has worked in various administrative roles at Georgia Tech for over 10 years. Her most recent role was with the Center for Research into Novel Computing Hierarchies (CRNCH) where she coordinated administrative and financial support for center directors and associated research groups. In her time at Georgia Tech, she has worked for the School of Interactive Computing as the Assistant to the Chair and as the Administrative Coordinator for the Dean’s Office in the College of Computing. Before coming to Georgia Tech in 2007, Wanda spent 20+ years working for Delta Air Lines.
Business Intelligence Officer I
Kenji Terawaki joined the Ga Tech Career Center staff in 2014 as an Employer Relations Specialist. While managing relationships with companies recruiting at the institute, Kenji was responsible for “On-Campus Recruiting” as well as facilitating the onboarding process for companies. Kenji collaborated with Alumni, Students, and Faculty to organize the “Campus Closet” for students in need of professional attire for interviews and career fairs. Kenji showed from the beginning an interest in data collection and analytics from our CMS system, Symplicity, and other software. This interest fostered his push for the establishment of a position, Information Analyst, which he held for two years. This position has allowed him to speak at several symposiums and conferences about benefits of career centers using, interpreting, and promoting university career services data.
Kenji is now Business Intelligence Developer—a role that would serve as a liaison between Enterprise Data Management (EDM) and OUE. Kenji also served for 3 years as a Board Member for HOLA (Ga Tech Hispanic Employee Organization), Board Member for STAR-Students' Temporary Assistance & Resources, and he has recently promoted to V.P. of Colleges and Director Board Member for GACE - Georgia Association of Colleges and Employers.
IT Support Lead
Russell earned a B.S. in Physics and an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of West Georgia. He has held positions at the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of West Georgia, where he was responsible for lab and classroom technology in the Technology Enhanced Learning Center and Douglas County schools, where he managed a team responsible for all of the technology needs for ten elementary schools.
Administrative Professional III
Katy Wong is the Administrative Professional III for the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (OVPUE), serving as the primary administrative support for the office. She earned her B.S. in Human Development and Family Science with a minor in Disabilities from the University of Georgia. Katy has been working in administration for over four years, with Georgia Tech being her first position in higher education. Katy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and loves meeting new people!
